X-Men Origins Harley & the Best Views in Australia

Once we got going again we headed for the Harley shop MacKay, this was a great shop, brand spanking new with lots of gear to look at and buy. (I’m just looking I can’t fit all my crap on as it is)
The owner of the shop is a guy named Peter, now I have to say Peter is a pretty decent guy who loves his bike, he spent ages chatting to us about various stuff but what he was most proud of was his X-Men Origins replica bike. Trust me when I say he has good reason, it is a brilliantly done bike and best of all he was happy to start it up in the shop. It roared into life and yep I could imagine Logan riding around the country side on it. (i'll get it on youtube)
Whilst we were in MacKay we organised our bikes to be serviced in Townsville. We had originally planned on getting the service done in Cairns but because we couldn’t get the bikes in on the day we figured we would be in town we tried Townsville.
So here is the low down,
The Harley both need to get a 32,000 service. In Cairns the local Harley dealer quoted me $450 for the service on each bike. In Townsville we were quoted $290 using standard oil and $330 using synthetic. So my thoughts are that I’m glad the Harley dealer in Cairns couldn’t do the work because it saved us a heap of money.
The ride in terms of the roads was the same as yesterday, decent roads, mountains to the distance on your left and in the foreground lots and lots of sugar cane fields. And not surprisingly all I could smell was molasses. But funnily enough it reminded me of Spam (as in the tinned food variety)
We arrived at Airlie Beach as we were planning on staying with some old work friends of Alan’s. Gordon, Tanya and their two girls Kayta and Ariel. They have even better views than big Phil’s place does at Bondi.
Tanya had prepared a huge feast for us, which was fab, nothing better than a home cooked meal after time on the road.
Thanks Tanya & Gordon
Cheers
