Good times when it comes to Servicing

Monday 1st November 2010
Funny story we went out for a spin last night, but before we left I took of my sheep skin, Alan decided to leave his on. As it turned out my plan was the better one because it rained over night, opps.
Well, we planned on an early start to get into Townsville so the bikes could get serviced, but why would we want to part with tradition now?
As we were running a little late (sorry Tanya & Gordon) we rang the guy’s at Orm Snell & Co to let them know we would be arriving a little later than we had originally planned.
They basically said,
“No worries, we’ll shuffle stuff around to get your Harley’s done.”
Let me give you the tip, this has never happened to me or Alan before. It’s usually a two week wait and if your late bad luck, you get to go to the back of the line. So I was already pretty happy.
Next we get into Townsville after some “Map Data errors” (crossing over the railway line a couple of times) and Alan nearly losing his hat. (Just so you know I wouldn’t have been going back for that let me give you the tip) we find Orm Snell & Co and drop the bike off.
The Service Manager came over introduced himself, asked as a couple of questions about the bikes and was there anything in particular we wanted the service guy’s to look.
We were preparing ourselves for a bit of a wait whilst the servicing was to be done, when Alan comes up with the great idea of asking the guy’s if we can use their internet connection to organise accommodation. The guy’s at Orm & Snell then basically recommended and arranged our accommodation for us. Now let’s be realistic here, it’s not a usual request nor is it anything to do with their business, but none the less they googled and then called the place for us.
Believe it or not they also drove us across town with all out gear to the motel (one at a time because we both would not fit in the ute) and told us they would be back to pick us up when the Harley’s had been serviced. Seriously ask yourself all you Harley owners when has this ever happened to you!!! Because it was a first for Alan and me.
True to their word the Sales Manager came and picked us up, as he also gave us a bit of a tour of Townsville. When we got back to Orm & Snell the bikes were there cleaned and serviced. You have to be happy about that given how dirty our bikes had gotten over the past couple of weeks.
So my tip of the day is
If you’re planning on a Harley adventure to Queensland, do yourself a favour and get you’re Harley serviced with the guy’s at Orm Snell &Co.
Funny thing about Townsville, the people here must be the fittest in Australia. There is a place called Castle Hill, which is more like a mountain that over looks the town and the ocean and whilst we riding up to the Castle Hill lookout it seemed like the entire population (110,000 people)of Townsville was running or walking up that hill. Far be it for me to say I think that they are all completely nuts, having said that the view was spectacular.
Cheers
