Funny note to my accommodation is that it turns out that working girls used to room next door to me and across from me. When I got up to load my gear up I noticed a scantily clad lady walking across the driveway, she was soon followed by another scantily clad lady. I did realise their lifestyle choice until several men came and went to the room next door. As they say location, location, location.
I headed for the Yepoon loop, which is a great ride to a nice little beach town. It would be pretty nice to stay there if you had a little spare time.
I charged my IPod so the world is a much better and happier place, as I once said to this pommy fella (I think his name was Cliff) I’m wired for sound…
The roads in Queensland are in good condition but in comparison to the NSW high country the roads are tad boring for riding, straight and long (same as yesterday’s comments).
While I was contemplating my navel this dude on a sports bike going the opposite way was riding in shorts singlet sneakers. I know this will probably sound hypocritical I couldn’t help but think what a complete tool he was. If he came off (not that I wish him harm) he would be in an unbelievable world of hurt. The reason I say it can be seen as hypocritical is that I do wear just a t-shirt, jeans, boots and helmet when I ride to the beach, however I’m not doing 110Klm’s on country roads. I’m not sure what his pillion was wearing as I was too busy focusing on the rider. I then spent several minutes contemplating what a tool the sports bike was, when a car carrier over took truck convoy on my side of the road. The shoulder of the road was nonexistent so I had to enact plan B of my exit strategy, jammed on the brakes and seek the last refuge of all scoundrels. Pray!!! Fortunately the truck swerved back into his own lane as we passed he was half in my lane and half in his own lane. To say that I was not pleased at what had just happened would be an understatement.
On Alan’s ride into Mackay he got abused by two drivers, the first gave him a spray for going up the left hand shoulder to the traffic lights. The driver then moved his car forward until it was in line with Alan’s back wheel, the driver then tail gated Alan and eventually over took Alan on the left shoulder of the road. The next guy just gave Alan a spray for lane splitting.
Funny thing about getting into Mackay, it’s a mining town and therefore hard to find accommodation, but we did eventually find a room for $110. Which is the most we have paid for accommodation on this trip.
Cheers
